Nearly 70 people throughout the valley will be charged with insurance fraud. Most of the arrests happened this week.
The operation was conducted in Fresno, Merced,Tulare, Kern and Kings Counties. |

The arrests are related to several major investigations. S
ome of the fraudulent activities people have been arrested for include, setting cars on fire and falsifying stereo and tire rim receipts
in an effort to collect insurance money. |

California insurance commissioner Steve Poizner was at Wednesday’s news conference in Clovis.
He estimates insurance fraud costs California consumers and businesses $15 billion a year. |

Each count of insurance fraud is a felony,
and carries a maximum sentence of up to five years in state prison and/or a fine of $50,000. |
